While the Obama administration has clearly declared war against the Catholic Church and is mandating that Church institutions act against their own consciences, they also dispatched their Assistant Secretary of Labor to come to the campus of The Catholic University of America to extol the wonders of Obamacare, according to The Tower.
Phyllis C. Borzi was reportedly invited by the college Democrats and explained to students how the 2010 health care reform benefits college students.
The administration is literally attempting to force the college to do something against its own will and then sending someone to explain to them why they should like it. That’s audacity.
Ironically, CUA President John Garvey has been one of the most outspoken opponents of the HHS mandate. In a September 30th op-ed in the Washington Post Garvey wrote:
“The regulations that HHS unveiled in August will require Catholic University to offer its students sterilization procedures and prescription contraceptives, including pills that act after fertilization to induce abortions…If we comply, as the law requires, we will be helping our students do things that we teach them, in our classes and in our sacraments, are sinful — sometimes gravely so.”
Borzi was confirmed as Assistant Secretary of Labor of the Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA) on July 10, 2009 and became involved in the implementation of the Affordable Care Act in March 2010.
Borzi exhorted students to vote to re-elect Obama. “This is a very important election. We need your help and your enthusiasm,” she said. “Please keep up the good work and reelect the president.”

To all my fellow students, please use your God given intelligence, wisdom, knowledge and reason to see what is really going on here. This is not about health care, this is not about reproductive rights. This is about an assault on religion. If we are all stripped of our rights to practice (or not) our religious beliefs what is next? Hitler did not start his extermination of the Jews by sending them to the ovens; he started his progrom by first preventing them from practicing there religion.
Please, please stand up for the belief that no one – no person, to group, no government – can deny anyone their right to religious freedom.
Congratulations to President Garvey for adhering so assertively to the principles of Catholicism. The students and faculty of CUA are priviledged to have such an ethical administator.
As each day goes by it gets worse ! The government is forcing their doctrines down our throats. The mess gets messier.

Please consider the source when listening respectfully to this Obama crony who represents an agenda that will establish an equality of outcomes by redistributing your potential earnings. Contrary to many of your professor’s propaganda, this country was founded on the providentially guided principles of personal responsibility, free markets, strong defense, and opportunity for all to climb the ladder of success. A vote for Obama is a vote for mediocracy for both you and your future families. If you accept Tom Brokaw’s book “The Greatest Generation” and its theme outlining the honorable conservative character of the men and women living at that time in our history then I say to you listen to their wisdom gained of real life experience, get informed, do your homework, and vote to return honor to your government – vote conservative, vote Republican.
I believe that Catholic Hospitals, colleges and Nursing Homes should decide to stop offering insurance to their employees after the year is up. These entities could then give their employees pay raises equal to the amount that health insurance would have cost the Catholic health providers and colleges. Employees are then free to buy insurance for themselves. However, if all health insurance companies are forced to cover contraceptives, abortificants and sterilization, then Catholic health provider employees could choose to not buy any health insurance. If the federal government requires all Americans to buy health insurance,…wait a minute, they already have done that…
It is even in the realm of possibilities that Catholics may wake up and vote President Obama, Katherine Sebelius, Phyllis Borzi, and Jay Carney out of office. I think that’s a much less complicated solution for Catholics.
Super Pete, Could not have said it better myself. But I hope that Catholics and other Christian denominations see the writing on the wall when it comes to this Administration and vote to provide new leadership in the Senate and the White House. From your mouth to God’s ears! Amen!
Sorry Pete but while your solution may solve the insurance coverage issue it avoids the necessary showdown between Freedom of Speech and a progressive government that is running amok. The church should not avoid a conflict, it should embrace it and fight the good fight.

There is a theory that all this has happened now so that the evil ones can reverse the mandate (temporarily) before the election and be a ‘hero’ again to the dissenting Catholics who will be fooled again…
Didn’t the Jews under the tyranny of the Third Reich have to get tatoos on their forearms for identification purposes? Perhaps Catholics in America will have to get used to inky needle pricks. The parallels between Obama and Hitler are becoming more apparant daily.
I also think that we are going to see a turn around of this mandate so Obama can be the “hero.” It is staged, like most things he says and does. I don’t know how “progressive” Catholics could go back and vote for the guy after this stunt. Before he was elected in 2008, I thought it was eery how people thought he was the great “savior” of the people. I remember telling my husband, that watching the crowds, reminded me of the furor and hype of the crowds around Hitler. Now, look at the stuff he’s doing. Not surprised though, his first act as President was funding the Mexico City Abortion Policy. Most of the Democrats in office are helping him do it. It’s a shame. Can’t vote for a Democrat again till all these stinkers are voted out of office.
