While Catholic bishops and the lay faithful railed last week against Obama’s HHS mandate for coverage of contraception, sterilization and some abortion causing drugs, two Jesuit priests were honored by the White House for their work in Catholic higher education.
Fr. Charles Currie, S.J., president of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, and Fr. William Leahy, S.J., president of Boston College, were honored with 8 others as “Champions of Change” by President Obama.
From the White House website:
On Wednesday, January 25th, the White House honored nine leaders in Catholic education from across the country as Champions of Change for their service to their communities and our nation. These extraordinary individuals have made a significant impact on the students, families, and educators through Catholic schools and universities throughout America. Their innovative ideas and dedication to students and to the wider community, demonstrate the strong commitment to ensuring that every child has an opportunity for greatness.
During his tenure as president of the AJCU, Father Currie’s silence in the face of countless abuses of Catholic identity at Jesuit universities has been deafening. Notably, while many bishops were speaking out against Notre Dame’s decision to honor President Obama in 2009, Fr. Currie’s AJCU publicly threw its support behind the University.
And during Fr. Leahy’s possession of the presidency at Boston College, scandals at the Jesuit institution have repeatedly been exposed by The Cardinal Newman Society. For a glimpse at our most recent posts on Boston College, click here.

JUST LIKE GERMANY IN THE 1930′S !
GOD Bless,
We need a real change, a new president.
The Catholic Church in Orthodxy is under assault by forces inimical to religious liberty, conscience and freedom of religion.
The Jesuit Order has been so tainted in Catholic news–by it’s own hand–as to be scandalous and appear to the faithful to be utterly corrupt. Their malfeasance in higher education is inexcusable. There are more authentic associations out there that would love to have the backing that the Jesuits have.
The “Society of Jesus” now have feet of clay.
As much as it pains me to write it, the Jesuits best years are clearly behind them! St. Ignatius of Loyola pray for us. John
