College of Saint Thomas More Launches Online Degree Program

In celebration of its 30th anniversary, The College of Saint Thomas More in Fort Worth, Texas, announced this month the launch of its first online classes beginning in the Fall.

From the College of Saint Thomas More press release:

Founded in Texas in 1981 as the St. Thomas More Institute, later changed to the College of St. Thomas More, 2011 marks the 30th anniversary of this educational endeavor. While other small colleges are closing in these tough economic times, the College of Saint Thomas More promises some exciting new developments in the weeks ahead.

Continuing in the Great Books tradition, with study according to the disciplines in Theology, Philosophy, Classical Studies, Literature, the Trivium and Quadrivium, Politics and Economics, the College of St. Thomas More announces the launching of its first online classes, beginning September 1, 2011 (Fall term). Beginning with 60 credit hours of courses in the 2011-12 academic year, the College plans to add another 67-73 hours in the next one to two academic years, allowing students to earn their bachelor of arts (BA) degree entirely online (subject to the approval of the Southern Association for Schools and Colleges). This will be the first and only liberal arts degree in the Great Books tradition offered online – anywhere. No other Catholic college offers a Great Books, liberal arts degree entirely online.

The Cardinal Newman Society promotes The College of Saint Thomas More in The Newman Guide for its strong Catholic identity.  Read the College’s profile here.
