The Oklahoma Catholic Student Conference was held on the campus of St. Gregory’s University earlier this month, according to a University news release, and included Mass, confession and adoration.
Themed “Saints in Our Midst”, the conference featured the drama “Lolek” by Jeremy Stanbary. The play is based on the young adult years of Pope John Paul II.
From the St. Gregory’s release:
“This professional drama brings to life the amazing experiences and events which formed the great man that the world came to know as Pope John Paul II,” Stanbury said in a press release. “Universal interest among Catholics and non-Catholics alike has surged over the years regarding the life and legacy of John Paul II, who is widely recognized to be one of the most influential figures of the 20th Century.”
In addition to the play, OCSC will feature five guest speakers. Scheduled to give presentations are: Dr. Guiseppe Caccioppoli, the spiritual son of St. Padre Pio; Anamaria Scaperlanda Ruiz, the co-founder of the Edith Stein Project at the University of Notre Dame; Cristy Welch, the Natural Family Planning (NFP) coordinator in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City’s Office of Family Life; Rev. Donald Wolf, pastor of St. Benedict Church in Shawnee and chair of SGU’s board of directors; and the Rt. Rev. Lawrence Stasyszen, O.S.B., abbot of St. Gregory’s Abbey and chancellor of SGU. The conference will offer Mass, confession, and adoration.
