Franciscan University to Honor Cardinal Burke at Commencement

Franciscan University of Steubenville just announced that Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke, prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, will be among those honored at the University’s commencement this year.

Cardinal Burke will also celebrate and preach the homily for Franciscan’s Baccalaureate mass.

The award bestowed on Cardinal Burke will be for “his unwavering commitment to the sanctity of human life and for helping Catholics rise to the challenge of responding to the culture of death.”

Franciscan University of Steubenville is included in The Cardinal Newman Society’s Newman Guide for its strong Catholic identity.

Cardinal Burke is the Ecclesiastical Advisor to The Cardinal Newman Society’s Center for the Advancement of Catholic Higher Education.

As a father of a student that will be graduating this year from Franciscan University I can say that this is great news! What an honor it will be to have this faithful shepherd there.
