A blog entry on Fairfield University’s website reveals that Fairfield and Fordham University, both Jesuit, Catholic institutions, will host event installments for the series “More Than a Monologue: Sexual Diversity and the Catholic Church” later this year.
From the Fairfield University blog:
More Than a Monologue: Sexual Diversity and the Catholic Church is an unprecedented collaboration — 2 Roman Catholic universities and 2 non-denominational divinity schools are coming together to change the conversation about sexual diversity and the Catholic Church.
For too long, the conversation on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues in the Roman Catholic Church has been only a monologue — the sole voice being heard is that of the institutional Catholic Church. We must engage in more than a monologue by having a 21st century conversation on sexual diversity, with new and different voices heard from.
This series will show the variety of viewpoints on issues of sexual diversity among Catholics. Each event has a unique focus, and as a whole they will lift up new voices that are rarely heard and raise awareness about the impact of church teachings and public stances of the lives of LGBT people. The goal is to encourage more vigorous, honest, and open debate about sexual diversity within and outside the Catholic Church.
The site says that Fordham University will host “Learning to Listen: Voices of Sexual Diversity and the Catholic Church” on September 16. About this event:
In contrast to the pronouncements of Catholic church leaders and in addition to the voices of lay and ordained pro-LGBT Catholic activists, this conference aims to lift up a range of voices of American Catholics of all races, genders, social and economic backgrounds, and sexual orientations.
Fairfield University will host “The Care of Souls: Sexual Diversity, Celibacy, and Ministy” on October 29. The director of the Center for Catholic Studies at Fairfield said:
The Catholic Church has large numbers of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender laity engaged in pastoral work in the Church and many gay clergy. But the official standpoint of the teaching Church makes their status as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender problematic for individuals, their communities, and the Church.
Other institutions involved with the series are Union Theological Seminary and Yale Divinity School.

If these Catholic colleges want
“vigorous, honest and open” debate, as they profess, will they include people whose lives have been ruined by the gay agenda? Will they include people who are dying from aids? Will they include children who suffer from identity crisis because they have two fathers? Will they include people who have been harassed and molested by gays? Will they include parents whose children have been subjected to gay sex education against their will? Hmmm. I wonder. Or will they only include people who are interested in church-bashing and spreading the gay agenda?
My guess is the latter.
